1.9.12 7:32am

Yesterday was a success with the 1989GOAL! Okay so time for the daily numbers total:

Morning run/jog- 3.6 miles

Grocery jog/walk-0.6 miles

Grocery walk (#2)-0.6 miles

Total:                   4.8 miles

I may or may not do daily totals, but I am going to try to get a weekly running total and then a GRAND total count at the end of each week (saturday). Wish me luck!

1.8.12 9:29am

Goooood Morning :)! Well, I’ve been up for about 3 hours now, but whatever lol. I ate my daily bowl of oatmeal and drank my 2+ cups of water. Folded a few loads of laundry while I let that digest for an hour. I really like this running thing because it just gets better and better everyday. Today instead of turning around at my usual place, I just kept going and ended up going an extra 1/2 mile! So proud of myself :) I did stop and walk speedwalk for an overall total of maybe a minute but even then, I’m super proud of myself!

I also decided to walk to the grocery store soon after returning home and as sooooon as I shut my door I realized I was locked out (a stupid $25 fee). Last time I was locked out (at 2AM) my apartment complex never even got back to me! I don’t know what the hell I’m paying them for. I mean, 2am is early/late to be gettin out of bed but shit, they chose that job, not me. Late night lockout came with the territory (college town). I digress. I figured I had tons of time before they got back to me so I proceeded to walk to the grocery store. While contemplating buying yogurt the girl called me back and I literally threw my basket back in the stack and ran out of the store like a mad woman. On the plus side, my walk turned into a run lol. The girl happened to be from my sign language class and was really nice and didn’t even charge me the fee which is WONDERFUL because I’m dead ass broke. Anyway, off to make 2nd breakfast and get ready for church. I have nursery duty today.

The last couple of days were bad eating days. Yesterday alone was bad. I went to taco bell last night with a friend. I already had a bit of the healthy lasagna I made the other night, and I should’ve followed my right mind and just told her no and eaten that. But no. Somehow this girl always manages to coax me into eating unhealthily with her. Since I don’t eat fast food much anyway, I succumbed and let old habits take charge and ordered a volcano burrito [muy delicioso, btw] and tried to redeem myself by getting a chicken fresco soft taco. Well the fresco taco was 150 calories, not great, but not bad. The volcano burrito was a whopping 760 calories, 39 grams of fat, 1750mg of sodium, and 79 carbs. X__X. are you fucking kidding me. Its my fault for 1. giving in, and 2. not looking up what kinda stats that burrito had before ordering it. In my own defense, I actually didn’t have my phone on me to look it up so… ehh.

Aaaaaaanywho, today was much much better. It went as follows:

Oatmeal with craisins and almonds

2.7 mile run (and I didn’t stop or walk! not once!!!)

Whole Egg+Egg white+tomatoes+spinach+onions+cheese on Whole Grain Bread with 1% Milk

Half of a granola bar and some saltines (I was at work so it was all I could grab)

1 serving of my baked veggie penne lasagna thingy I made, with salad+granola+light italian dressing

Small handful of almonds and craisins

and I finished up just now with a 3.05 miles on the treadmill.

Great day, right? Well, I’m proud.

I have this ridiculous goal that I made up yesterday of running/walking/jogging at least 1989 miles by the end of the year. Now, that being said, I’m naturally athletic, but I am by no means a ‘runner.’ My endurance all through my track years was terrrrrrible lol. Laughable actually. But I digress. I would love to be able to say I ran/jogged/walked approx. 2000 logged miles in a year. Thats an average of about 5.5 miles a day (leap year gives me and extra day to get my act together!) or 38 miles a week or 163 miles a month!!!!  I’m thinking I’ll workout in the mornings and if nothing else, complete the bare minimum of my daily mileage with an evening walk after work.  Week one was a bust for total mileage, but I didn’t decide to do this until this morning.  So for the first week in January, I logged approx. 13.05 miles. Less than half of what I would like, but I’m expecting to build up my endurance over the year to where I can run 5+ miles as just my morning run. That’ll make up for some of what I’ll call ‘beginner time.’

Wish me luck!

must try!

1.5.12 8.59am

I’m just NOW waking up. Ugh…. doubt I’ll get a workout in today. I was up all night cooking and watching Toddlers and Tiaras. On the plus side, now I have a delicious casserole to eat for the rest of the week. According to myfitnesspal, depending on how much I get, it’ll be around 260 calories per serving. Not too bad. It does have a TON of protein though. The fat total per serving could be better (11g) but apparently I haven’t been getting enough fat in my diet lately so whatever. The casserole from the bottom, upwards is: whole wheat penne pasta, 93/7 ground turkey with minced red onions and minced garlic, a teeny bit of ragu, sliced and diced roma tomatoes, cottage cheese (w/ egg), baby spinach, red peppers, yellow squash and zucchini, and then mozarella and monterey jack cheese on top. I tasted a small bit last night and it was soooooooo flippin good. Since I’m getting up so late, first and second breakfast are out of the question, but I’ll fit in lunch before I leave for work. Have to do really good for the rest of the day.

1.4.12 9:53AM

So today’s workout was a bust. Maybe it was that I got off of work 3 hours later than usual, but more than likely it was the teeny slice of lemon pie that I had around 10.30 last night. 1. I’ve started limiting my eating to before 7.30 to 8.00 latest so food around that time is weird and 2. I don’t eat dessert frequently, so I don’t think my body is used to a processed sugar spike, especially that late. That and lack of sleep resulted in a shitty workout. I know, excuses, excuses. I didn’t wake up until 6.18 and my stomach still felt full-ish while I was only halfway through my oatmeal so I didn’t finish it. I ended up falling back asleep until about 8. Then got up and decided not to run in the cold but rather to use the crappy gym my apt complex provides. It was okay but I can tell I have less motivation to run on a treadmill versus when I run outside. Maybe it’s because I don’t feel like I’m going anywhere and I’m constantly looking down to look at my time. Basically, I’m going to have to suck it up for the rest of the winter and run outside if I really wanna see some results :(

For now I’m going to prepare my meals for the rest of the day/week. Brown rice, baked tilapia, side salad, and half of a sweet potato for lunch and then a veggie pasta for lunch/dinner for the rest of the week. I may grill, bake, or poach some chicken to add in depending on where my protein levels are for the day. I guess since I didn’t really do much today, it doesn’t warrant what I call “second breakfast” (my post workout meal), plus its kinda too late. I’ll just have a few almonds until my early lunch. Then work. Blah.
